This time last year, Griffin was the up-and-coming sophomore quarterback whose powerful throws and dazzling runs were going to help Baylor start settling some grudges against Big 12 powers. That is, until he tore a knee ligament in the third game and the Bears remained also-rans. Well, on Saturday, Griffin returns for the season opener at home against Sam Houston State. Baylor is expecting about 50,000 fans to welcome Griffin back.

Fort Worth police are seeking a crawl-thru robber who used a drive-thru window to steal $400 from a business. ABC Convenince Store owner Fares Malalha says the window is small and the robber is "not really skinny." A police report says the suspect had walked up to the drive-through window and asked to buy cigarettes, then demanded money before allegedly opening fire. The gunman then slipped in and stole cash from the register.

David Buehler was going to be on the Dallas Cowboys this season, even if it was only to keep whacking kickoffs deep into the end zone. Now the Cowboys feel good about him kicking field goals, too. After not getting a chance for two weeks, Buehler made kicks from 51, 45 and 40 yards -- all with plenty of room to spare -- then nailed a 31-yarder as time expired to lift the Cowboys past the Miami Dolphins 27-25 in the preseason finale Thursday night.
